The EickView Endoscopy system allows us to capture high quality HD pictures and videos, storing them in your horse's digital medical record. This makes progress easy to compare, or in rare or troubling cases, imaging can quickly be sent to surgeons at referral equine hospitals.
1.5m endoscope
We selected an endoscope with a smaller diameter than most common equine respiratory scopes. This allows us to more easily scope the upper airway, guttural pouches, bladders (stones or sabulus cystitis) or the uterus. If needed, this scope has the attachments for collecting samples for cytology, removing small stones etc.
3m endoscope
It is estimated that roughly 65% of performance horses have gastric ulcers. Of horses being treated for ulcers, 30% will need treatment for longer than a month. By having a gastroscope performed, you will be able to tell if your horse has ulcers, how bad they are, and what type of ulcers are present (different types respond to different medications). A scope can also help identify other GI problems such as delayed gastric emptying.
Recheck scoping will confirm if prescription treatment can be discontinued, or if extended therapy is needed.
